Shinhan Asset Management launches 500 billion won energy funds

Shinhan Asset Management has formed two funds worth 500 billion won for renewable energy and energy infrastructure in South Korea.

One fund will provide financing to local residents and resident groups involved in large renewable energy projects.

It will share some power plant operating profits with participating communities, and its first planned investment is a large offshore wind project.

The second fund will finance renewable energy and electricity grid projects through loans and equity investments.

It can invest from project development through construction and operation, including projects led by public power companies or policy finance institutions.

The funds matter because they connect investment in energy projects with local participation and support for infrastructure.

Shinhan plans to expand related investments into areas such as energy storage, solar power and electricity transmission and distribution networks.
