Aaron Boone to return as Yankees manager for 2027 season

The New York Yankees will keep Aaron Boone as manager in 2027, his 10th season leading the team.

Boone already has a contract for next season, which is the final year of a two-year deal he signed in 2025.

The Yankees were swept by the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Division Series, ending their season at home.

Boone’s teams have reached the playoffs eight times in nine seasons and posted a 790-565 record, but have not won a World Series during his tenure.

New York’s last championship came in 2009, leaving the team with a 17-season title drought.

The Yankees have also lost 13 straight playoff appearances without winning a World Series.

General manager Brian Cashman’s contract has ended, but he is expected to return; the team has not said whether it will extend Boone’s contract beyond 2027.
