Denny Indrayana prepares to face pretrial challenge over 2015 case

Denny Indrayana says he is ready to face a pretrial challenge filed at the South Jakarta District Court.

The case concerns the investigation into alleged corruption in an online passport payment project at Indonesia’s Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

Indrayana was named a suspect in 2015, over a project called Payment Gateway.

The challenge was filed by Garuda 08, a volunteer group supporting Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming, together with the Merah Putih Legal Team.

His legal team includes former KPK leaders, among them former chair Abraham Samad and former deputies Bambang Widjojanto and Busyro Muqoddas.

A lawyer for Indrayana previously said the Rp5,000 transaction fee charged to passport applicants was lawful and that the project caused no state losses.

The court challenge concerns whether the investigation will continue, but no hearing date or outcome is stated.
