MUI leader backs police reshuffle after boarding-school search

A police search at an Islamic boarding school in Sukoharjo, Central Java, drew criticism and complaints from the public.

Indonesia's police chief removed Sukoharjo Police Chief Andhika Dharma Sena and other officials after the incident.

MUI leader Anwar Iskandar welcomed the removals and praised the police chief for responding to public concerns.

Andhika has been reassigned, and Indra Maulana Saputra will lead Sukoharjo police after serving as Boyolali's police chief.

Anwar urged Muslims and other community groups to stay calm and trust the legal process.

Indonesia's Religious Affairs Ministry is expected to take constructive steps concerning the boarding school, while police say the reshuffle is part of efforts to improve internal standards and professionalism.
