German fans boo Cucurella at Real Madrid’s 4-1 win over Leipzig

German supporters booed Marc Cucurella during Real Madrid’s 4-1 Champions League win over Leipzig at the Bernabéu.

Cucurella came onto the pitch in the second half, and the boos followed him whenever he touched the ball.

The anger dates back to Spain’s Euro 2024 quarter-final against host nation Germany, when a Jamal Musiala shot struck Cucurella’s hand in extra time.

The referee and VAR did not award a penalty, and Spain went on to win the match and later the tournament.

UEFA subsequently said the handball should have been punished with a penalty.

German fans spread through the stadium rather than being confined to one section, making the boos seem to come from across the ground.

Madrid supporters applauded Cucurella to counter the hostile reception, while German fans have continued to jeer him at matches against German teams.
