French students protest staff shortages and poor school conditions

Students across France are protesting because many say their schools are overcrowded, short of staff and in poor condition.

Teachers have joined them, and the government has promised 3,000 extra supply teachers.

The protests have sometimes turned violent and are drawing in politicians on the left and right.
