JLR starts local production of Defender 110 in Pune

JLR has begun making the Defender 110 in Pune for customers in India.

Local production cuts the SUV’s price by up to ₹34 lakh, with the 2.0-litre petrol version starting at ₹99 lakh.

The locally made X-Dynamic HSE will also be offered with 3.0-litre petrol and diesel engines, each priced at ₹1.18 crore.

India is the first market outside Europe to make the Defender, while JLR’s plant in Slovakia will continue producing other global versions.

JLR says it has sold 9,000 Defenders in India over the past three and a half years and expects sales to rise by 20% at the new prices.

Bookings are open online and at 32 dealerships, with deliveries due to begin on November 15, 2026.
