Patrick Kane returns to Detroit as Chicago visits the Red Wings

The Chicago Blackhawks visit the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday, with Patrick Kane facing his former team for the first time since leaving Detroit.

Kane played three seasons with the Red Wings before returning to Chicago over the summer, where he leads the Blackhawks in assists and scoring.

Chicago is seeking its first road win after going 0-4 away from home this season; a win over Los Angeles on Tuesday ended the team's three-game losing streak.

Detroit has earned points in seven of its last eight games and won a shootout in Edmonton to close a four-game road trip.

The teams have different immediate concerns: Chicago is trying to build momentum, while Detroit aims to keep its recent run going.

Detroit captain Dylan Larkin will not play, after the team suspended him without pay when he said he would not play until he is traded.

Kane needs one assist to reach 900 career assists, and the game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

ET.
