İYİ Party leader accuses government of mishandling fund investigation
İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu accused Turkey’s government of mishandling a fund scandal in a speech to his party’s lawmakers.
He said authorities had ignored warnings about risky and allegedly manipulative activity in the country’s capital markets.
Dervişoğlu also alleged that 173 billion dollars disappeared from the stock market over two months, and criticized regulators and other institutions for failing to act.
He questioned why arrests in the investigation came late and called for documents showing when risks were identified and what officials did.
He said investors had received no more than 250,000 lira, despite President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s statement that principal repayments of up to 1 million lira would begin in October.
Dervişoğlu said the money was owed to people who had lost savings, not a favor from the government.
He called the proposed 2027 budget a sign of economic decline, saying it would leave ordinary people worse off while benefiting a small group.
He said the public should see the investigation records and the dates and signatures behind decisions, but did not describe any next step by the authorities.
İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu accused the government of mishandling investigations into fund-related allegations and delaying arrests.
He said regulators and other institutions had failed to act on risks and called for records of their decisions to be made public.
Dervişoğlu described the fund scandal as part of a wider economic crisis and said investors had not received the promised repayments.
He also criticized the proposed 2027 budget, calling it a “collapse budget.”
