Man arrested after necklace robbery endangered baby in Turin
Police in Turin placed a 29-year-old man in pre-trial custody over an aggravated robbery.
He is suspected of stealing a gold necklace from a mother outside an ice-cream shop on Via Chiesa della Salute.
The woman was walking with her four-month-old baby in a stroller when the man approached on foot and grabbed the necklace.
As he fled, he struck the stroller, putting the baby at risk of falling; the child and mother were not seriously hurt.
Police say surveillance footage helped identify the suspect, who was already known to law enforcement.
Accounts differ on when the robbery happened: two give August 22, while another says October 22.
The man is accused of aggravated robbery, and the accounts do not say what happens next in the case.
