Jeju Samdasoo reports no failed water tests since 1998
Jeju Development Corp.
says Jeju Samdasoo has passed every water test since the bottled water launched in 1998.
The company says it conducts more than 20,000 water tests a year and has received no water-related penalties.
Jeju Samdasoo is made from groundwater drawn about 420 metres below Jeju Island in South Korea.
At its factory, sealed pipes and filters keep the water away from outside air, while bottles are made and filled on site.
The company says testing supports a two-year shelf life, compared with a legal basic period of six months for bottled spring water; that period assumes proper storage and does not apply after opening.
The company plans to start operating a new smart production line next July, which is expected to add more than 400,000 tonnes of annual capacity.
It plans to reorganize production across its lines, including considering some for exports.

At the plant, water is drawn from about 420 metres underground and moved through sealed pipes and filters before bottling.
Automated equipment makes, fills and seals bottles within the production facility.
