Cognizant combines software teams as clients seek more value from AI

Cognizant began a major restructuring on 26 October, bringing together teams that develop, engineer and test software.

The company has combined these practices into a single Software Engineering Group, after they previously operated separately.

The new group is organized into three units focused on industry clients, advanced capabilities and application services.

Its Frontier Capability Units will build AI-based software using models from Anthropic, OpenAI and Google’s Gemini.

Cognizant says clients want better returns from AI investments, as many companies struggle to turn adoption into measurable value.

The company is preparing its employees for the new structure, and workers began being assigned to the new departments on 1 October.

The change is meant to prepare Cognizant for AI-driven software work while continuing to serve clients today.
