Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark to Step Down in January 2027

Brett Yormark will step down as Big 12 commissioner on Jan.

31, 2027, after four years in the job.

The Big 12 is a US college sports conference, and Yormark joined it in 2022 after leading Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and the Brooklyn Nets.

He helped add eight schools as the conference reshaped its membership during major changes in college sports.

The additions included Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State and Utah, which moved from the Pac-12, as well as BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF.

The Big 12 also secured a six-year TV deal with ESPN and FOX valued at $2.28 billion.

These changes helped the conference strengthen its finances and position after Texas and Oklahoma left.

The league now needs to choose a successor, with further conference realignment possible before its next television contract date in 2031.
