Ebro secures up to €200 million from China’s Eximbank
Ebro has secured up to €200 million in financing from China’s Eximbank for its factory in Barcelona’s Zona Franca.
The Spanish carmaker runs the site with Chinese group Chery, and the loan is intended to fund a new paint plant and production lines for international expansion.
The deal has a 10-year term, with three years before repayments begin and a fixed interest rate of 2.65%; Ebro is guaranteeing 60% of the financing.
The first draw is about €35 million, and the full amount is estimated in euros because the loan was signed in Chinese yuan.
Production of three models is expected to begin in early 2027, including vehicles from the Ebro and Jaecoo ranges.
The company also plans to make a fully electric Ebro vehicle based on the Chery QQ3.
The funding is meant to help activate all production areas at the Barcelona site as Ebro expands its manufacturing.
