At least four Palestinians killed by Israeli fire in Gaza

At least four Palestinians were killed by Israeli strikes and gunfire in Gaza on Tuesday, health officials said.

Medics said an air strike killed Akram Yassin and his wife Dina Abu Baker in their Gaza City apartment.

Gunfire killed a 17-year-old near Khan Younis and another person in Zeitoun, east of Gaza City.

Israel’s military said it had struck a militant in the area of the apartment, but did not immediately comment on the two gunfire deaths.

The killings happened during a ceasefire that began a year ago; Israel says Hamas is rearming and launching attacks, while Hamas denies this and accuses Israel of undermining the deal.

The agreement envisages reconstruction, Hamas disarming and Israeli troops withdrawing, but little progress has been made towards putting it into effect.

Gaza health officials say more than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the ceasefire, while Israel says four of its soldiers have been killed by militants in Gaza over the same period.

We’re supposed to be in a ceasefire period, but honestly, we are not seeing a ceasefire or anything. The war is still going on, assassinations are continuing, and the shelling has not stopped.

We can see that the attacks have been pretty much concentrated on Gaza City, where a residential flat was targeted without any warning.

We are seeing very distressing scenes, and footage coming from the site of the attack shows the scale of destruction that has been inflicted upon the whole residential area.
