Türkiye to announce National Energy 2040 vision on November 5

Türkiye will announce its National Energy 2040 vision on November 5, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said at an energy summit in Istanbul.

The plan is a new roadmap for the country’s energy system, with electrification at its centre.

Türkiye’s energy needs are rising as its economy and population grow and cities expand.

The government aims to meet rising demand and reduce reliance on energy imports by increasing domestic oil and natural gas production and using renewable energy.

Bayraktar also pointed to Türkiye’s strategy of diversifying gas supplies, including through pipelines and gas-import facilities.

The plan is intended to strengthen energy security as the country works toward its 2053 carbon-neutral goal.
