FritzOS 8.50 update brings network filters and automatic traffic priority
Fritz has started releasing FritzOS 8.50 for its FritzBox routers, with the update available for several models.
The rollout includes the 7530 AX, 7690, 5630 and 5690, though availability may depend on the device.
A key addition is a router-level DNS filter that can block advertising, tracking and other unwanted domains across devices on a home network.
The software can also automatically prioritize video calls and online games when other traffic competes for bandwidth.
The update adds a network status check in the MyFritz app and new options for smart-home routines.
More FritzBox models are expected to get the update in the coming weeks and months, and owners can check for it through their router’s settings.
FritzOS 8.50 is rolling out to selected FritzBox routers, bringing DNS filtering and automatic traffic prioritisation.
The DNS filter can block domains used for advertising, tracking and other unwanted content across a home network.
The router can automatically prioritise real-time activities such as video calls and online games over other traffic.
