Ballard finds high-grade gold beyond Mt Ida’s Baldock resource
Ballard Mining found high-grade gold beyond the Baldock resource at its Mt Ida project in Western Australia.
Drilling intersected 1.2 metres grading 20.9 grams of gold per tonne and 1.5 metres grading 13.4 grams per tonne.
These results were not included in the September estimate, which put Mt Ida’s resource at 1.84 million ounces of gold.
A geophysical survey identified a possible target 485 metres below the resource, extending to a vertical depth of 1,100 metres.
The findings matter because they could point to gold deposits beyond the areas already counted in the resource.
Follow-up drilling and geological modelling are underway to test the target and assess the new results for future resource updates.
Ballard is targeting a feasibility study, an ore reserve estimate and an investment decision for mid-2027.
Ballard Mining reported high-grade gold intersections beyond the current resource at the Baldock deposit in Western Australia.
Drilling returned 1.2 metres at 20.9 grams per tonne of gold from 775.8 metres and 1.5 metres at 13.4 grams per tonne from 425.6 metres.
A geophysical survey identified an interpreted conductor extending 485 metres below the deepest intersected lode, to a vertical depth of 1,100 metres.
The results were not included in the September mineral resource estimate of 20.4 million tonnes at 2.8 grams per tonne, containing 1.84 million ounces of gold.
Ballard said geological modelling and follow-up drilling are underway to assess the results and potential future resource updates.
- Who
- Ballard Mining, which operates the Mt Ida project.
- What
- Drilling found high-grade gold beyond the Baldock resource, and geophysics identified a deeper target.
- When
- The results were reported on October 28, 2026. The mineral resource estimate was updated in September.
- Where
- At the Baldock deposit within the Mt Ida project in Western Australia.
- Why
- Ballard is testing for further mineralisation and assessing potential resource growth at Mt Ida.
This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
Ballard’s mineral resource estimate put Mt Ida at 20.4 million tonnes at 2.8 grams per tonne of gold for 1.84 million ounces.
Stockhead reported high-grade drilling results beyond the Baldock resource and a geophysical target below it.
Ballard said geological modelling and follow-up drilling were underway.

What people are saying
These results provide further evidence that the Mt Ida mineralised systems continue beyond the drilling incorporated into our recent 1.84-million-ounce Mineral Resource update.
At Baldock, the latest drilling has returned additional high-grade intersections at depth, while geophysics suggests mineralisation could potentially extend 485 metres below the Baldock MRE to a vertical depth of 1,100 metres.
The results strengthen our confidence in the potential for continued Mineral Resource growth at Mt Ida.
