Jusuf Wanandi Says Dasco Told Him He Would Join Prabowo's Advisory Council

Jusuf Wanandi joined Indonesia's Presidential Advisory Council at a ceremony in Jakarta on October 2, 2026.

The council advises President Prabowo Subianto.

Wanandi said Gerindra chair Sufmi Dasco Ahmad informed him he would join only a few hours before the ceremony.

He said the October 2 conversation was only their second, after Dasco called the day before and asked him not to travel abroad soon.

Wanandi last held public office as a member of Indonesia's People's Consultative Assembly from 1972 to 1977, and he founded the Centre for Strategic and International Studies think tank.

His appointment came with little notice, according to his account.

The account gives no further details about the council's work or what Wanandi will do next.
