Liverpool beat Brentford 2-1 but lose Szoboszlai and Frimpong to injuries

Liverpool beat Brentford 2-1 in a Premier League match in west London.

Brentford took the lead through Keane Lewis-Potter, but Yehor Yarmolyuk was sent off shortly before half-time for a headbutt.

Liverpool used their extra player to turn the match around, with Victor Muñoz equalising and Alexander Isak scoring the winner.

Brentford’s Vitaly Janelt was also sent off late in the game, leaving the hosts with nine players.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong both came off injured, adding to Liverpool’s concerns after a busy spell of matches.

The coach said the pair could be out for some time; Szoboszlai appeared to have a recurrence of an earlier problem, while Frimpong’s injury was described as new.

The injuries may leave Liverpool short of players, but the available information does not say when either will return.
