Indonesian Coffee Draws Visitors at Tokyo Specialty Coffee Expo

Indonesian Coffee Draws Visitors at Tokyo Specialty Coffee Expo

Indonesia presented 20 coffees from small businesses at the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan expo in Tokyo.

The event ran from October 14 to 17 at Tokyo Big Sight and brought together coffee producers, importers, roasters and other industry businesses.

Visitors crowded the Indonesian pavilion to try coffees from different parts of the country, including beans from Mount Buthak in East Java.

One visitor, Junko Uesugi, travelled from Kyoto and said the East Java coffee was fruity and enjoyable.

The coffees are part of an export push supported by Bank Indonesia, which selected products from businesses it has supported.

Mount Buthak coffee has already been exported to Saudi Arabia, and its producer cooperative can export up to 15 tonnes.

The expo offered Indonesian businesses a chance to reach international buyers and build industry connections.
