Zelensky says he feels betrayed as Starlink restrictions disrupt Ukraine operations

Volodymyr Zelensky says Ukraine is losing a strong partner in the United States as ties with President Donald Trump come under strain.

In an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, Zelensky said he felt betrayed, while adding that the issue was about more than his feelings.

Trump announced a deal to buy Russian diesel and an energy truce between Russia and Ukraine, which Zelensky said came as a surprise to Kyiv.

Ukraine later said its access to Starlink satellite service had been severely restricted, hampering military operations.

Zelensky warned that reduced satellite support could cost lives and said Ukraine had asked for the service to be restored.

Elon Musk said restrictions on the military Starshield system are set by the U.S. military and ultimately the U.S. president; Trump has denied his administration was involved.

The dispute comes as Russian attacks continue on Ukraine’s power grid, despite the announced energy truce.
