Greens leader Brantner does not expect a political comeback by Habeck
Franziska Brantner does not expect Robert Habeck to return to politics, saying he chose to do something else.
Habeck, a former Green Party chancellor candidate, remains a prominent figure, but Brantner said the party has opened a new chapter.
She left open whether the Greens will name a chancellor candidate at the next federal election, saying the decision would come at the right time.
Brantner said she wants the Greens to be strong and that the party has shown it can govern.
She urged Germany’s governing parties to stay in office, warning that repeated elections would be undesirable after the previous coalition government collapsed.
Brantner also called for violence-free participation in planned protests by the group GenZ regelt and said organisers and funding should be transparent.
She pointed to an education protest on November 20, which Fridays for Future is also supporting, as an alternative.
