Meliá's nine-month profit falls 47% after leaving Cuba

Meliá Hotels International's profit fell about 47% in the first nine months of 2026, to roughly €94 million.

The Spanish hotel group said revenue rose 7.2% to €1.709 billion over the same period.

Its departure from Cuba weighed on the results, with €79.8 million recorded as the impact of discontinued operations.

Meliá completed its exit from the island on 24 July, ending nearly four decades of activity there.

Hotel demand was strong, especially in Spain, and revenue per available room increased across the period.

The company still expects strong growth for the full year, forecasting a high-single-digit rise in that measure.

Meliá also aims to sign up to 40 new hotels and open 24 this year; it had signed 20 and opened 17 by the time of its results.
