Apple's New iPad Mini Adds an OLED Screen but Starts at $699

Apple has updated its smallest tablet, the iPad mini, with a larger screen and a faster processor.

The new model has an 8.5-inch OLED display, an A20 Pro chip and a thinner, lighter design than its predecessor.

It also adds dust and water resistance, while an optional nano-texture screen finish can reduce glare.

The changes make the tablet better suited to reading, games, streaming and everyday use, but it still lacks a 120Hz screen refresh rate and Face ID.

The starting price is $699, which is $200 more than the previous model cost at launch two years ago.

Reviewers praise the upgrades but say the high price may put off many buyers, especially when less expensive tablets are available.
