FinTech México sets out proposals to reshape finance by 2030

FinTech México has presented a plan for changing the country's financial system by 2030.

The proposals call for updated rules, more competition and wider access to digital financial services.

Mexico now has more than 1,100 fintech companies, up from 158 Mexican firms identified about a decade ago, but use of digital services has not kept pace with industry growth.

The plan focuses on seven areas, including digital payments, small-business finance, open finance, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

It also proposes using alternative data to help assess businesses that lack traditional credit histories, while strengthening user protections and data security.

The association aims for 90% of the population to have access to financial services by 2030 and wants to lower remittance costs to 1%.

FinTech México is calling for companies, banks and authorities to work together to advance the proposals and build trust in digital finance.
