Body of missing 12-year-old found at sea off Catalonia
Rami, a 12-year-old boy, was found dead at sea between Sitges and Castelldefels in Catalonia.
He had disappeared from his home in Granollers on October 4, during a spell of torrential rain and storms.
Rami had autism, and investigators considered that he may have left home frightened by thunder.
A fisherman found the body on Wednesday afternoon near Port Ginesta and alerted emergency services.
Authorities confirmed Rami’s identity using fingerprints and said sea currents may have carried his body to the area.
The discovery ended an 11-day search involving emergency teams, police, volunteers, helicopters, drones and search dogs.
Catalan president Salvador Illa expressed his condolences to Rami’s family.
