South Korean man jailed for stalking days after release

A court in Chuncheon, South Korea, sentenced a 67-year-old man to one year in prison for stalking and threatening a local shop owner.

He had just served three years in prison for extortion and stalking.

He returned to the shop four days after his release and threatened the owner, who had locked the door to keep him out.

Police warned him to stay away and later separated him from the owner, but he returned again and shouted threats.

The judge said the victim had suffered significant distress and had not received an apology or compensation.

The court also ordered the man to complete 40 hours of stalking treatment.
