Toss Bank's 31-day savings plan passes 600,000 accounts
Toss Bank says its 31-day savings plan has passed 600,000 accounts since it launched in August.
The South Korean bank's product turns saving into a challenge in which customers save money each day while raising a virtual squirrel.
Customers can put away up to 5,000 won a day for 31 days.
The interest rate rises with the number of successful saving days: saving for at least 21 days earns 8% a year, while completing all 31 days earns the maximum rate of 10% a year.
Toss Bank says six in 10 customers who saved for 21 days or more signed up again within a week of reaching the end of the term.
That suggests many of those customers chose to continue using the savings product, though the bank gave no further details about what happens next.
