Iran says US talks require acceptance of seven conditions

Iran says the US must meet seven conditions before serious talks can begin.

The conditions include lifting a naval blockade and guaranteeing safe passage for commercial ships and oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran also wants US sanctions lifted, an exemption for its oil exports, and its frozen assets released.

Iran says nuclear material must remain inside its borders and that the war must end.

The dispute has left efforts to resolve tensions over the Strait of Hormuz stalled.

Qatari mediators arrived in Tehran as diplomatic efforts continued.

US President Donald Trump says he is weighing a deal or renewed attacks, and has suggested strikes could resume after the November 3 midterm elections.

The sources do not say whether Washington has accepted Iran’s conditions or what the mediators will do next.
