Halo co-creator launches AI uprising story across multiple formats
Halo co-creator Jason Jones wrote a story about an AI uprising told through accounts from people in many countries.
In 2019, he asked author Margaret Stohl, a former colleague at Bungie, to review his manuscript.
Jones and Stohl founded Stone Kite to build the story world across books, comics, film and games.
The studio has 22 staff members and more than 250 contributors, including artists and screenwriters.
Stone Kite has released a chapter of a four-part graphic novel called One Zero One, along with a chapter of Jones’ original manuscript.
That chapter describes an airsoft battle between humans and AI-powered bots, which Stohl said felt relevant to current AI behavior.
The studio plans to release more chapters and may develop larger productions such as movies and games, depending on how the project develops.

What people are saying
He’s a worldbuilder who builds at an epic scale.
It’s about investing in a bunch of characters and stories, trying a bunch of formats, and respecting the people you’re telling the stories to and letting them help you guide it.
The cheating, the bullying, the worst mirror of humanity that you see starting to come out with some of that agentic behavior right now.
