Toronto police chief defends not arresting home invasion suspect at hospital
A violent home invasion in Toronto’s Bridle Path left four members of a family injured early on Oct.
29.
Police say three armed men entered the home, attacked the family and demanded valuables.
One suspect, 23-year-old Daijohn Richards, went to hospital with a gunshot wound shortly afterward; police believe an accomplice accidentally shot him during the break-in.
Chief Myron Demkiw says officers had no information at the time that an attacker had been shot, and suspicion alone was not enough to arrest Richards.
Richards is now wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, while the other two suspects have not been identified.
Police say all three suspects are considered armed and dangerous, and investigators will continue pursuing evidence.
