Two people slightly injured after ultralight overturns in Loire-Atlantique

An ultralight aircraft overturned at the end of a runway in La Planche, south of Nantes, on Thursday, 29 October.

The two men on board, aged 59 and 73, were slightly injured, with cuts from broken cabin glass and psychological shock.

They had taken off about 10 minutes earlier from the Montaigu-Vendée airfield.

The La Planche runway is 450 metres long, much shorter than the one at Montaigu, and club members said a mistaken manoeuvre may have caused the crash.

The older man was flown to hospital, while the other was taken by ambulance to a university hospital.

An investigation into the accident is under way, led by the air transport gendarmerie brigade in Bouguenais.
