Rising concert prices drive demand for tribute acts in the UK

UK venues are booking more tribute shows as fans look for cheaper ways to enjoy live music.

Acts such as Arctic Numpties and Daft Funk perform songs made famous by major artists.

Tickets for tribute shows typically cost £20–£30, while more than two-thirds of people surveyed said seeing major acts live has become too expensive for them.

About one in five UK adults attended a tribute show in the past year, according to a survey by the Night Time Industries Association.

Rising ticket prices have faced scrutiny, including a UK watchdog investigation into Ticketmaster’s sale of Oasis tickets in 2024.

Tribute shows can also help venues earn bar income, which operators say is important to keeping independent venues open.
