Red Bulls beat Inter Miami 2-0 as Messi's scoring streak ends

The New York Red Bulls beat Inter Miami 2-0 in an MLS match in Harrison, New Jersey, on Saturday.

Messi started on the bench after traveling to Spain to receive the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports, then entered in the 56th minute.

Casemiro's own goal put New York ahead in the seventh minute, and Emil Forsberg scored late to seal the win.

Messi helped create Miami's best chance, but Telasco Segovia's shot hit the crossbar.

The loss ended Miami's three-game winning streak, while Messi's run of 13 straight games with a goal or assist also ended.

Nashville had already clinched the Supporters' Shield, and Miami remained second as it looks to prepare for the playoffs.

New York moved into a playoff position with three regular-season games left.
