LA consul appeals ruling in Yoo Seung-jun's third visa case

South Korea's LA consul has appealed Yoo Seung-jun's visa case to the Supreme Court.

Yoo, a singer who worked in South Korea, is seeking to overturn the refusal of a visa to enter the country.

In 2002, he left South Korea for a performance and gained US citizenship after saying he would serve in the military, prompting restrictions on his entry.

This is his third lawsuit over a visa refusal; he had won two earlier cases, but the consulate refused his visa again in 2024.

The lower courts ruled that the latest refusal unfairly harmed Yoo compared with the public benefit it would bring.

The Supreme Court will now review the appeal, and its decision will determine the outcome of this case.
