DKPP Is Still Verifying Complaint Over Gibran's Education Documents
A complaint against Indonesia's election commission members is still under review by the country's election-ethics council, the DKPP.
Former deputy law minister Denny Indrayana and several groups filed it over rules that meant Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka did not have to submit a high school diploma.
The DKPP says the complaint's administrative checks are not complete, so it has not set a hearing date.
The council says it will review the substance after the paperwork requirements are met.
The complainants allege the election commission mishandled the rule and Gibran's education documents, including by failing to verify documents and limiting election monitors' access.
They also want the commission members dismissed and barred from public positions.
The next step is a review of the complaint's substance, after which the DKPP may schedule a hearing if the requirements are satisfied.
Indonesia’s election ethics council is still checking the administrative requirements of a complaint concerning the education documents of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
DKPP Chair Heddy Lugito said a hearing has not been scheduled because the administrative verification is incomplete.
The complaint was filed against commissioners of the General Elections Commission (KPU) by former deputy law minister Denny Indrayana and several groups and individuals.
The complainants allege that a KPU regulation exempted Gibran from submitting proof of high-school education and that the commission mishandled his candidacy documents.
Denny said the complaint also concerns alleged obstruction of election oversight by the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).
