Producer and Literary Agent Ken Atchity Dies at 82

Ken Atchity, a producer, author and literary agent, has died at 82.

He died on Monday in Los Angeles; his business partner said the cause was kidney failure.

He produced The Meg and its 2023 sequel, Meg 2: The Trench, as well as films including Joe Somebody and Life or Something Like It.

Before moving into Hollywood in the 1980s, Atchity taught English and comparative literature at Occidental College in Los Angeles.

His work crossed film, publishing and education: he produced more than 30 films, wrote over 20 books and helped sell books and screen projects through his literary business.

His other film and television credits included the 16 Shades of Love telefilms, which aired on HBO and Cinemax and were distributed internationally by Warner Bros.

His family and colleagues remember a career spanning several fields, and donations in his memory can be made to Yoga Gives Back, which supports women and children in India.
