Gyeonggi to support broader industry choices in industrial parks
Gyeonggi Province announced a plan to help its industrial parks attract more businesses by expanding or adjusting the industries allowed to operate there.
The plan covers three tools: allowing most industries except those restricted for reasons such as pollution or traffic, creating zones for a wider range of industries, and easing rules that assign one industry to each plot.
The rules will be tailored to each park, based on factors such as its purpose, unsold land, changing industries and the capacity of local infrastructure.
For new parks, the province will aim to preserve clusters of key industries while considering room for related businesses.
In completed parks that need more economic activity, it will focus on attracting a wider mix of businesses, while older parks will be encouraged to combine manufacturing with fields such as engineering, information technology and software.
The province will support decisions on where and how to apply the tools; the plan does not set a single approach for every park.
