B.C. party leaders set for only debate of snap election
British Columbia’s three main party leaders are due to debate in the province’s snap election campaign.
NDP Leader David Eby, interim Conservative leader Lorne Doerkson and Green Leader Emily Lowan are scheduled to take part.
The debate is the campaign’s only leaders’ debate and is set to be broadcast by major television and radio networks.
It comes after the Greens released a platform proposing almost $9.3 billion a year for health care, education and other social services over the next two fiscal years.
The party says a one-time tax on excessive wealth would fund its plan, while people earning income would not pay more tax under its proposals.
The debate is scheduled ahead of the Oct.
24 provincial election, and a press conference with the leaders is expected to follow.
