Heilongjiang Sets Science and Technology Priorities for the Next Five-Year Plan

At a news conference on October 14, Heilongjiang set science priorities for its next five-year plan.

The province in northeast China says it wants to shift from growth led mainly by natural resources to growth led by innovation.

This year, 732 science experts were assigned to work with companies, 83% more than last year.

Their work helped bring 506 major research results into practical use, including new technology products.

Heilongjiang also said 863 researchers under 40 are leading provincial science projects and that it is easing rules on research funding.

The province has 16 national key laboratories and 69 national-level science and technology platforms, and a China-Russia-Mongolia cooperation center has opened there.

Five priorities will guide the next stage, including commercializing research, supporting green development and building a stronger science workforce.
