Inter captain Lautaro Martínez set to miss seven matches with thigh injury

Inter captain Lautaro Martínez has injured his left thigh and is expected to be out for several weeks.

The club said tests found a muscle strain in the thigh’s flexor muscles.

He is expected to miss seven matches, against Bologna, Shakhtar Donetsk, Fiorentina, Venezia, Milan, Feyenoord and Como.

The games include the Milan derby and two Champions League fixtures, leaving Inter without its captain and leading scorer during a busy stretch.

Reports differ on the likely length of his absence, with estimates ranging from at least three weeks to about a month and a half.

A possible return is November 22 against Atalanta, but that date is not certain.
