Consortium wins contract to build Cuernavaca convention centre

Consortium wins contract to build Cuernavaca convention centre

A consortium led by Grupo Alavez Lambarri won the contract to build a convention centre in Cuernavaca, in the Mexican state of Morelos.

Its bid was 660.9 million pesos, below the government’s 700 million peso estimate.

The project drew 18 bids, but six firms reached the final evaluation; the winning consortium scored 95.4 points out of 100.

The centre is planned to hold 3,500 people and could also serve as a cultural venue.

The state government is expected to run it with its tourism department once construction is complete.

The project aims to boost business tourism and support local activity in hotels, restaurants, transport and other services.

Construction is expected to begin after the contract is signed, with a 488-day completion period.
