Indonesia's House delays talks on the election law bill
Indonesia's House of Representatives has postponed the first meeting on its election law bill until after lawmakers' recess, likely next week.
Working group chair Bahtra Banong said the schedule is still being worked out.
The meeting had been planned with the Home Affairs Ministry and the General Elections Commission.
Lawmaker Dede Yusuf had earlier said the group might meet during the recess and discuss concerns about an election regulation linked to Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's 2024 presidential candidacy.
The working group now plans to revise its meeting and public consultation schedule for the bill.
The bill is not among Parliament's four stated legislative priorities for the session through the end of December 2026.
Its discussion is being urged as preparations for the 2029 election begin and amid related Constitutional Court rulings.
