Lithuanian man gets back casino winnings seized in Venlo

A Lithuanian man has got back about €24,000 that Dutch military police seized in Venlo.

He had won the money at a casino on 17 September, according to the account of the events.

After drinking, he was unable to drive home and fell asleep in his car in a parking area.

Military police found him early in the morning and a breath test showed he had drunk too much to drive.

They gave him a 12-hour driving ban and seized the cash after he could not prove where it came from.

An investigation later confirmed that he had won the money, so it was returned.

The accounts give slightly different totals, but both put the amount at about €24,000.
