NBA names Kalshi and Polymarket preferred prediction markets

The NBA named Kalshi and Polymarket preferred prediction markets on Monday and expanded its deal with DraftKings to cover these markets.

Prediction markets let people trade on the outcomes of events, including NBA games, and are available in some form across all 50 US states.

The league also agreed with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission on how to manage its relationships with these companies.

The deals include limits on what people can trade and require companies to share information about suspicious activity and investigations.

NBA and team personnel will be barred from trading on league events.

The rules are intended to help protect game integrity as the league faces gambling-related cases involving current and former basketball figures.

The legality and oversight of prediction markets remain disputed, with more than a dozen states involved in litigation; the NBA says more partnership expansions are expected.
