Turkey Is Europe's Second-Largest Casting Producer, Minister Says
Turkey’s industry minister says the country is a major casting producer, ranking second in Europe and seventh worldwide.
Casting shapes molten metal into parts used across industries, including cars, machinery, energy, defence and aviation.
The sector produced about 2.3 million tonnes last year, generating nearly €8 billion in turnover and more than €6 billion in exports, according to Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır.
He made the remarks at the World Foundry Congress, which marked 100 years of the World Foundry Organization and 50 years of Turkey’s foundry industry association.
Casting supports technologies from electric vehicles to renewable energy, making the sector important to manufacturing and supply chains.
The government says it has introduced financing and technology programmes to help manufacturers meet environmental standards and adopt cleaner, more advanced production.
Its stated priorities are higher-value production and faster green and digital change, alongside stronger expertise in advanced materials and manufacturing technology.
