Greater Poland approves Poland’s first fast-track renewable energy zones
Greater Poland approved Poland’s first fast-track renewable energy zones on October 26, covering about 105 hectares for solar farms.
The zones are in selected municipalities, including a 50-hectare site near Święta in Złotów municipality.
The new rules are intended to shorten approval procedures for solar projects; in Złotów, the process could fall from as long as four years to no more than two.
The zones do not remove public consultation or detailed requirements to protect land, wildlife and the environment.
The approval does not guarantee that investors will build projects, and Złotów says it is waiting for potential investors to come forward.
Grid capacity remains a challenge, after the regional marshal said 4,000 applications had previously been rejected because the network could not connect the installations.
The marshal expects upgrades funded mainly through EU recovery funds to make connections easier, while the pilot will show whether the new zones speed up investment.
Greater Poland’s regional assembly has approved Poland’s first plans for accelerated renewable energy development areas.
The plans designate about 105 hectares for solar farms in selected municipalities.
The zones are intended to simplify administrative and location procedures and speed up renewable energy investments.
A solar project in the Złotów municipality could see its process shortened from as long as four years to no more than two.
The measure does not remove requirements for public consultation or protections for land, wildlife and the environment.
