Chad Kelly leaves Argos loss with shoulder injury

Toronto Argonauts quarterback Chad Kelly left with a shoulder injury during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

He was hurt in the third quarter when a hit knocked the ball loose as he prepared to throw, and Winnipeg returned it for a touchdown.

Kelly stayed in for a time, but was replaced by Nick Arbuckle midway through the fourth quarter and did not return.

Toronto led 22-17 when Kelly came out, but Winnipeg took the lead in the final minute and won, ending the Argos’ season.

Kelly had completed 18 of 30 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown before leaving.

The injury comes after he agreed to a five-year contract extension with Toronto worth more than $1 million a year.

Winnipeg advances to face Montreal next weekend; the Alouettes had the CFL’s best regular-season record.
