Danantara plans Rp 100 trillion investment in Indonesia's textile industry

Danantara plans to invest about Rp 100 trillion in Indonesia's textile industry.

The plan would create a state-owned textile company by taking over several factories and combining their operations.

Industry Minister Muhammad Sarmuji said his ministry has coordinated with Danantara on the proposal.

He said the factories have different strengths that could be brought together to build a more competitive industry.

The plan could also provide a new employer for textile workers who lost their jobs.

Sarmuji hopes the company can be set up as soon as possible, but no launch date was given.

We have coordinated with Danantara. Danantara is investing quite a large amount in textile factories, textile production, perhaps around Rp 100 trillion, a very large figure, and taking over several factories, yes, several factories at once.

Perhaps as soon as possible, because the workers who have been laid off actually need a new place to work, and it would be a shame if they were not put to use soon.
